About Expedition Chanshal in , Rohru

About Chanshal Pass:

The Chanshal Pass/ Chanshal Valley links Dodra Kwar and Rohru (Chirgaon) in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The pass sits atop the Chanshal Peak, which at 4,520 metres (14,830 ft) and is thus the highest peak in the Shimla district. The pass remains open from May to October and is covered with snow for the rest of the year.

The Expedition:

It all started one day, when all of us were sitting in the college bus and laughing our heads out on some silly topic. Varun, who was the mind behind the destination, started talking about the pass and we all listened to him with great interest (of course we were still laughing on that *topic* of ours in our head). But then the idea seemed interesting so we all agreed upon it and hence forth a dated was finalized. So on the intervening night of 27-28th of September,2013 at 3:00 hours, our expedition kick- started from Chandigarh. It was a mesmerizing experience, of course with its ups and downs, but still an unforgettable 600 Km expedition .
