About Bright Morning Star Children Home in BMSC Home P/Hno: 305 Perizie colony, Kohima

India is home to 1.22 billion people of which over half is in the age group 0-25 years as on 2012. With a fast growing population and vast geography the resource distribution in India is under severe stress. Combined with a weak enforcement mechanisms and unethical greed among few the system lacks its reach to the needy. The divide between the cities and villages are ever widening. A huge misbalance in the wealth distribution is being witnessed between the rich and poor throughout the country. Even the authorities either fail or are helpless in addressing this problem as it is in most cases. Millions of socio-economic backward sections of the population are deprived of their basic needs even today, children and women being the most affected.
A good percentage of children under the age of 10 years have no access to proper food, clothing, shelter and basic education. Children Mortality rates are high in many of the remote villages where the health care apparatus are either absent or nominal. Malnutrition among children of this age group is phenomenally high. Due to acute poverty, most of them are forced into child labor as servants to household or as labor in farms. Though basic education is mandated and a right under the constitution to every child in the country, the ground reality is different. Government schools in the remote parts of the country, the only means of education for these children, are most often in a sorry state due to either no access because of poor roads, unsafe school structure or lack of quality teaching.
Nagaland is located in the far eastern corner of India with Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to the North and West, Manipur to the South and Burma (Myanmar) to the east of its borders. With a population of around 2 million spread across a land mass of 16579 square kilometers, Nagaland is situated at a height of 1444.12 meters above sea level. The population mainly consisting of 16 main tribes have a very unique and traditional way of living from ancient times which they still respect. The people are known for their friendliness and hospitality to outsiders and have a profound love for nature and their culture. Blessed with beautiful hills and valleys and lovely weather almost throughout the year, anyone who visit this land is certain to fall in love with it and its people.
But Nagaland and its people also could not escape from the sudden onslaughts of modernity. This has brought in its share of divisions and inequalities in the society. The developments and resource accumulation were predominantly concentrated in and around cities and towns. This forced the people from the villages to migrate to the cities which in turn resulted in a huge socio-economic void between the cities and the remote villages, which continues even today. Many remote villages either don’t have or are only connected to the outside world by a single motor able road. And this too may be cut off on months on end due to weather calamities. Efforts are afoot from the authorities to bring in some improvement to this state, but vested interests plays a spoil spot to this. And as a result thousands are deprived of their bare minimum needs like food, clothing, shelter, health care, education etc. It was this very realization that a change to all this and to bring relief to these much needy people is the responsibility and moral duty of every fellow human being, and not just look to others to do things, that I pledge to do everything for these destitute in by ability.

Bright morning star children home intend to be a beacon of hope and aspiration for the children who otherwise would have become the unfortunate victims of poverty and malnutrition. At this home they are taken care with love, care and very basic requirements.
