About ROPE India in Rope International, IIT Madras Research Park, Cluster No.1, Kanagam road, Taramani, Chennai

Inspired by traditional crafts, ROPE International creates contemporary and nature-friendly home furnishing, storage baskets and decor products. ROPE’s exquisite handmade products are made from more than a dozen natural and renewable fibers such as banana fiber, jute, river grass, palm, areca, bamboo, tali-pot and elephant grass, among others.
ROPE has trained more than 1000 artisans in villages across its value chain and currently engages more than 300 full time artisans and handloom weavers who hand-craft products designed by ROPE’s design studio. At the heart of ROPE’s mission is the provision of sustainable livelihood to rural artisans and creation of nature friendly products. Having raised family incomes of rural artisans by two to three times, and providing dependable and safe employment, ROPE has significantly impacted several thousand rural families in the last six years of its existence.
