Gone are the days where a lone teacher stood in front of a class of 50 with a book in one hand and a foot-long scale in the other, ready to thwack students who aren’t paying attention to her lecture. No more incessant writing on the blackboard. No more uninterested students.

At Saraswathi Vidyalaya, we believe our actions speak louder than words. We believe we can make education interesting – and the concept of learning, appealing to students.

Founded in 1956 by the late Mrs K Saraswathi, the school offers education from the playschool and kindergarten level up to class 12 and is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education. We have three branches – at Vadapalani, Kanchipuram and Nanganallur.

We have a number of activity-based events that help impressionable young children learn without putting undue pressure on them. We apply the concept of ‘learning centres’ to our methods of teaching, where the students will have theme-based work and activities with a social and family orientation. Trained adults will help children learn at their own pace with numerous activities designed to bring out the child’s potential.

Our curriculum has been designed in a manner that helps teachers concentrate on the all-round development of every child, while anchoring them to the sound value systems of family, tradition and spirituality that our culture offers. It is supported by a range of education tools designed to help make the learning process simpler, faster and more efficient. With tools like NIIT NGuru – which makes learning fun, EduSports – that combines sports and outdoor activities and education into a well-rounded package, Math Labs and English Labs, among others, we believe we can make a difference to the traditional methods of teaching.

Set within the premises of Saraswathi Vidyalaya, at Vadapalani off Arcot Road, is Krida – a playschool for children between two and six years that is designed to impart holistic, value based education in a fun manner. Krida’s interiors will take the toddlers into the beautiful world of colours. With a temperature controlled environment maintained within the playschool, children and parents need not worry about the sultry weather of Chennai while the children enjoy their play & learning experience.
