The municipal area covers 9.63 km². As of 2001 India census,[4] Bhongir had a population of 57,451. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Bhongir has an average literacy rate of 70%, less than the national average of 74.04%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 61%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Andhra Pradesh Tourism has stated Rock Climbing training at Bhongir Fort. The training centre is named as Rock Climbing School Bhongir, with an objective of promoting adventure tourism at Bhongir Fort and to provide professional rock climbing training to enthusiast. The School is offering training in Basic and Advance Rock Climbing with grades. Also 300ft & 600ft rappelling available for walk in tourist. Outward bound training for school students and corporates using adventure as base is highlight of the Rock Climbing Centre.

Bhongir or Bhuvanagiri is a beautiful town and a municipality in Nalgonda district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is part of (Telangana region).

Bhongir Municipality Population - 50,263 as per 2001 census, an area covering 9.63 km². Bhongir is famous for its fort, which has had a significant history since the time of Kakatheeyas.

Bhongir Fort was built on an isolated monolithic rock by the Western Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI and was thus named after him as Tribhuvanagiri.[5] This name gradually became Bhuvanagiri and subsequently Bhongir. At the foot of the fortified rocks 609.6 meters above the sea level stands the town of Bhongir, it has a unique egg-shaped construction with two entry points protected by huge rocks, so the fort was considered practically impregnable by invading armies.
